Knowledge race for estate agents is now on

The land and new homes ‘knowledge race’ for estate agents is now on

Estate agents need to ‘get smart’ and act now to position themselves in what promises to be a land and new homes boom.

The Land & New Homes Network responded to the Government launching an open consultation on September 14 as part of its far reaching white paper on housing.

The consultation – Planning for the right homes in the right places, has been described by Kevin Ellis, founder of the LNHN, as ‘Part of a knowledge race for the property industry.”

The housing white paper and subsequent consultation is another chance for proactive agents to get prepared for what will be a huge opportunity for their agencies.

He added: “The consultation is interesting, especially from the point that the Government has set out housing needs tables for each local planning authority, which although are still in draft form, give a clear direction of travel for future  housing provision in new Local Plans.

“This covers proposals for how many homes every place in the country is currently planning for, and, where available, how many homes Government believe they need if their new assessment methodology is used.

“A lot of agencies are only vaguely aware of the Housing White Paper published in February this year. Sure, it’s a complicated and lengthy document but when you cut through it all it is the future’s biggest opportunity for estate agencies.

“Proactive agencies are learning as much as possible about what the Government is putting forward and where the opportunities and instructions in their areas are. Because there are already plenty across the entire UK.

“But you need the knowledge to seek them out and that’s something we assist our members with.

“This consultation is a chance for anyone to have their say on the proposals to address the huge shortage of new homes we have in the UK.”

The Land & New Homes Network is a national organisation which supports non-competing agent members by providing industry leading training, resources, contacts and insights.   TO find out more about joining please get in touch by calling 01672 556310 or if you are attending EA Masters on 22nd September be sure to pop along to our stand in the Innovation Hall.
