Housing White Paper – Our Reaction

Housing White Paper – Our Reaction

The Government released its eagerly anticipated housing white paper yesterday.

While the estate agency industry doesn’t feature that prominently, land and building new homes dominates the 104 page report.

The focus is firmly on new homes.

And that’s good news for forward thinking agents because it presents an opportunity.

Now we’re not suggesting you trawl through all of the pages. Probably better to read the article below from Estate Agent Today which summarises the report.

The points that stood out for us relate to the support the Government will give to the house building community and the pressure and incentives it wants to introduce to local authorities to improve the number of homes being built.

Many of these new homes across the UK will need agents to sell them at some point.

The devil is in the detail and regardless of your opinion on the white paper it’s important to understand it – especially if you are serious about having worthwhile conversations with house builders and developers.

At the network we’re keeping a close eye on how the suggestions made in the white paper develop and will be ensuring our members are kept totally up to speed with any changes, especially regarding planning regulations.

The network also received some great coverage in this month’s The Negotiator magazine.

We were featured on page 31 commenting on the garden village proposals and also on page 63 where the rapid growth of the network was highlighted.

We’re feeling incredibly positive about 2017 and looking forward to helping more agents make the most of the opportunities that are out there.

Thanks for reading

PS: If you do have a spare four hours here’s a link to the white paper in full.
