The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has unveiled a grand plan this week which if it comes off will see 90,000 homes built in the capital within the next six years.
That’s a lot of new builds and given that his ambitious plan has Government funding to the tune of £3.15bn it looks likely to happen.
Obviously there will be a lot of political shenanigans before the ground works of developments across London start getting laid.
However, if you’re an estate agency in the capital which doesn’t have a land and new Homes plan you better start thinking about one and quickly.
The political will to address the shortage of affordable homes in London and indeed the entire country is strong. Various politicians of different political persuasions have declared it Public Priority Number One.
Along with new builds comes a great opportunity for agents to win new instructions but as with any emerging market it’s going to be very competitive.
And here’s where membership of a non competing group of estate agencies like the Land and New Homes Network gives great value and a very sharp competitive edge.
Our members benefit from access to the land and new homes industry’s leading experts.
We hold bi-monthly meetings where best practices in marketing new homes and sourcing land opportunities are looked at it in detail.
Recently we held two of our Insight Days which gave members clear strategies on business planning for 2017 and beyond, marketing trends analysis and best practice in building relationships with builders, property investors and local authorities and housing associations.
It’s not just London which is earmarked for a new home building frenzy.
We’re seeing our members across the country win more and more instructions to market new homes and for many this is leading to further commissions through second hand sales and lettings.
There has never been a better and more important time to think about improving your land and new homes offer.
Our current London members include Gibbs Gillespie, Keatons, Conran Estates, Humberts, Aspire, Northfields and Streets Ahead and this group of non competing agents is constantly growing.
